DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, American Watch Co, Model 1872, 21J, 16S, heavy 14K rose gold OF J&S (Jeannot & Shiebler) recase, gold cuvette, glazed observation cover over mvt, fancy white enamel SS impressed dial with gold and silver foil decoration inside hour numerals, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, quilted pattern nickel damascene, s#2605048. Gross weight of assembled watch 70.3 dwt (109.4 g). A beautifully finished top grade movement; Waltham's Model 1872 "American Watch Co." grade is considered by many collectors to represent the peak of movement finish quality and aesthetics among American industrial watchmaking.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, main plate with small marring tight around three of the pillar screws, some scattered fine scratches, foot of balance cock with scattered pecks and dings, winding wheels with few small oxide spots; dial with two short perimeter hls at 11:30, some small edge flaking around 10, mild hand rub within seconds-register; excellent hands; case shows light wear, some dings or mild soft dents to perimeter of rear; tight bow, crown shows ample wear; good glass crystal though with some looseness within bezel seat.
